Landlords

Managing your property

Set up buildings and units, bring in caretakers and tenants, and list vacant units on the marketplace.

Create a building and its units

Your portfolio lives under Dashboard → Properties. Each building holds its units: rooms, studios, apartments or shops.

  1. 1

    Open your dashboard

Tap Dashboard in the bottom bar. Your landlord tabs are Overview, Properties, Renters and Marketplace.

  2. 2

    Add a building

Go to Properties → Add building. Enter a Name and Quarter / Street Address, pick the Region and City, add up to 4 photos, then tap Create building.

  3. 3

    Add a unit

Tap the building, then Add unit. Give it a Label (e.g. A1), a Type, Bedrooms, Rent and Due day (1–28).

  4. 4

    Describe the unit

Optionally set the Caution (up to 2 months' rent) and Paid upfront (months due before moving in). Tick highlights and amenities, write a description and add up to 8 photos. Tap Create unit.

  5. 5

    Add a walkthrough video

Open the unit → Walkthrough → Add a video. Record now or choose from your gallery, up to 30 seconds. Longer clips open a trimmer so you can pick the best part.

TipA building that still has units can't be deleted. Remove its units first.

Add a caretaker

Give someone on the ground access to a building, and choose exactly what they can do there.

  1. 1

    Open the building

Go to Properties, tap the building, then tap Add caretaker.

  2. 2

    Choose who

Pick someone already on your team under Assign an existing caretaker, or enter a new person's Caretaker email or Caretaker phone.

  3. 3

    Set permissions

Choose any of Manage units, Record cash, Request payment and View only. You need at least one.

  4. 4

    Grant access

Tap Grant access. If they already use Yanda, they get access straight away. Otherwise copy the Invite code and send it to them.

TipTo remove a caretaker, open the building and tap Revoke next to their name under Caretakers.

Add a tenant and assign a unit

Two steps: add the renter to your account, then start a tenancy on a vacant unit.

  1. 1

    Add the renter

Go to Renters → Add renter. Enter their Full name and a Phone number or Email. Either is enough. Tap Add renter.

  2. 2

    Get them linked

If they already use Yanda, they get an in-app invite to accept. If not, copy the Invite code and send it to them (WhatsApp works well). The renter shows as Invite pending until they accept, then Linked.

  3. 3

    Start the tenancy

Go to Properties → the building → a vacant unit → Start tenancy. Pick the linked Renter and confirm the Rent, Due day and Deposit.

  4. 4

    Enter rent paid in advance

Under Months paid in advance, enter how many months they've already paid (0 if nothing yet). Yanda tracks the date their rent is paid up to and counts down from there.

  5. 5

    Record payments

On the unit, tap Record payment whenever rent comes in. Enter the months and amount and how it was paid. When a tenant tells you they've paid, check Payments and tap Confirm or Reject.

TipA renter must show as Linked before you can start a tenancy for them.

End a tenancy (unassign a unit)

When a tenant moves out, end their tenancy so the unit is free again.

  1. 1

    Open the unit

Go to Properties → the building → the occupied unit.

  2. 2

    Settle the deposit (optional)

If you're keeping part of the deposit, tap Deduct deposit and enter the Amount and Reason.

  3. 3

    End the tenancy

Tap End tenancy and confirm. The unit goes back to Vacant and rent stops being due.

  4. 4

    Remove the renter (optional)

To drop them from your list, go to Renters, tap ⋮ next to their name and choose Remove renter. For an invite that was never accepted, choose Revoke invite.

List a unit on the marketplace

Put a vacant unit in front of people searching for a home.

  1. 1

    Open a vacant unit

Go to Properties → the building → the unit. Under Marketplace, tap List. Occupied units can't be listed.

  2. 2

    Write the listing

Rent, type and location come from the unit. Add a Title, a Description and, if you like, an availability date.

  3. 3

    Publish

Tap Publish listing. The unit now shows Live on the marketplace.

  4. 4

    Handle viewing requests

Go to Overview → Viewing requests → See all. For each request, tap Confirm, Decline or Message, then Mark done after the visit.

  5. 5

    Pause or remove

From the unit, tap Pause to hide it for now, Mark rented once it's taken, or Remove to take it off the marketplace.
